Duet For Lovers
Composed in January / February 2014

In the context of a personal creative sound research around audio electronic feedback systems, inspired by the works of David Tudor and Toshimaru Nakamura, NISC (No-Input Sound-Card) is my first attempt to extend analog closed feedback systems to digital domain.

NISC is a digital/analog audio feedback system based on a A/D-D/A audio interface; plugins the outputs into its input and control the behaviour of the feedback chains resulting with a network of DSP modules.

Duet For Lovers is the first piece composed with NISC.
In the piece, two inputs and two outputs of the audio interface are turned in two closed feedback chains; anyway it's implemented an "internal" openness: a control to let flow the "sound stream" of each chain in the other, resulting in different grades of interaction until the limit of a unique and more complex feedback "environment".
The piece was composed editing many hours of improvisations with NISC* controlled by a touch interface; improvisations was performed around the idea of two unstable and complex individualities dialoguing, clashing, interacting, fighting, connecting together.

No post production sound processing was added to the NISC recordings expect for mastering purposes.

* for some improvisations NISC basic configuration described before was expanded with additional analog pre-amplifiers and equalisers.
